Matthijs Krul is a conlanger, worldbuilder, and deep Tolkien nerd. He has a PhD in economic history and has done a postdoctoral fellowship in anthropology but all his linguistics is self-taught. He has lived in various countries but is currently resident in Berlin, where he is the token twink at the day job and enjoys conlanging, (war) gaming, and far too many other hobbies in his spare time.
Izikazi is Matthijs Krul’s attempt at creating a Semitic-style nonconcatenative language based on naturalistic and historical principles, following the literature on Proto-Afro-Asiatic and its historical development but with its own twist. In Krul’s concultural setting it is the dominant language of an archipelago empire and one of the more influential languages in the world.
